Robelle Domain – Orion Lagoon – Springfield Lakes

Hearing great things about this special free water park for kids we visited the Robelle Domain – Orion Lagoon – Springfield Lakes, with our swimmers, towels and a sense of adventure to have fun in the sun for the afternoon.

The area boasts excellent features and includes the following.

  • An expansion of 2 shallow swimming pools and a FREE water park for families of all ages featuring a large tipping bucket, jet sprays and spouts.
  • 2 Cafes
  • Large green shaded parkland areas suitable for individuals or large family groups
  • Cascading water and man-made waterfall and much much more

On arrival, we noticed straight away that even though it was a school weekday, this area is extremely popular and immediate parking was limited.  But there is a generous amount of parking if you used the lots provided by the neighbouring shopping centre car parks over the road.

Our first stop was the shallow swimming pools.  As we arrived, we could hear the magical waterfall cascading down the nature wall to the nearby lake.

( I am partial to waterfalls, even if they are man-made, their music is magical)

With two swimming pools, one for younger children with a maximum depth of 0.6 Metres. The second for older age groups with a maximum depth of 1.5 metres. We quickly found a spot to sit before heading into the water.

The Orion Lagoon was a massive hit for Charlotte where she made friends with several kids and spent some time exploring both pools. I loved the council provide free lifeguards to the area watching over all to keep everyone safe.  Lots of spots to sit and either enjoy the sun, or several places to hide in the shade.

The two pools are located side by side making access to both easy.

After our ice cream purchase, we wandered slowly over to the Robelle Domain Water Park admiring the parklands in between2016-11-08_0002Child Eating Drumstick Icecream

After meeting a few friends we all wandered over to the centrally located new water feature over at Orion Springfield Central. Well shaded from the late hot afternoon sun, the fun water feature temperature was cooler giving the kids some extra last minute fun.Orion Springfield Central water displayshopping centre interactive water feature

The Robelle Domain is well worth the drive and a full day of your time.

I recommend you provide your own shade via a pop-up shade tent or umbrella. The shaded areas are popular and soon become exposed to the sun as it moves during the day.

A picnic rug and basket would make for an excellent family lunch in the shaded parklands separating the Lagoon from the waterpark.  If you prefer to indulge, you have plenty of food options available at the Lagoon Cafe or the Robelle Cafe located on the 24-hectare property.
